Pengertian:

Past Perfect Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu kejadian yang telah selesai terjadi sebelum kejadian lain di masa lampau.

Rumus:

(+) Subject + had + V3 (past participle)
(-) Subject + had not + V3
(?) Had + Subject + V3?

Contoh Kalimat:

• (+) She had left before I arrived.
  (Dia sudah pergi sebelum aku datang.)

• (-) They had not eaten when we called.
  (Mereka belum makan saat kami menelepon.)
